This is a stencil used by the Richmond Arsenal during the Civil War to mark packs of cartridges for the Confederate Army. The brass stencil measures approximately 3"x3". It is stamped in five lines that read "10 Cartridges/Buck & Ball/Cal. 69/Richmond/Arsenal 186". The last digit of the year was left blank, and hand written on the actual cartridge pack label. This is an extremely rare Civil War artifact, you just don't see these on the market. This one comes out of the Petersburg, Virginia area. This could be the crowning piece of your Confederate ammunition collection!
