This is a non excavated General Service Eagle button from the Indian Wars period. This two piece button is coat size and has an American eagle on the face. The back mark is HORSTMANN BROS & CO./PHILa. The face is dent free, no mars or blemishes. The eagle is facing to the right, clutching a laurel branch in the right talon and three arrows in the left talon. In the center of the eagle is a plain shield. The majority of the gilt is gone from the button, leaving a beautiful bronze patina. The shank is all still present and straight.
