This book was written for the United States Navy Department, published in 1938, the narrative is 129 pages and is not illustrated. This book was written for the Department of the Navy to be used in determining if sailors were ready for the advancement to the rate of Yeoman 2nd Class. The primary role of a Navy Yeoman is administrative and clerical work. This book, or more accurately, pamphlet, gives the naval leadership over the positions of yeoman, a guide to test their skills and abilities. It was not be given out to the enlisted, as it contained answers to the test questions used to recommend or deny advancement to Yeoman 2nd Class. It was prepared under the supervision of the Bureau of navigation and printed at the government printing office, Washington D.C in 1938. The cover of the book has been replaced with one made of heavy brown wrapping paper. This cover has been damaged on the front. The back cover has an ink stamp that reads, "RECEIVED/JAN 20 1942/ OFFICE OF/SUBMARINE DIV. FORTY-ONE". This paperback book is in fair condition.
