This is a United Confederate Veterans reunion badge from Little Rock, Arkansas. The reunion was held from May 8 - 11, 1928. The hanger measures 2" across. The hanger depicts the Twin Bridges that span the Arkansas River coming into Little Rock. The hanger still has all the original gilt remaining. The ribbon is red and white, with the white side of the ribbon being frayed. The medal is 1 5/16" tall and is in the shape of the state of Arkansas with gold gilt. The medallion is marked U.C.V./38th/REUNION/MAY8-11/1928 on the top left, just above a Confederate battle flag. In the center of the medal is the state capital building in Little Rock, with a banner along the bottom of the building that reads, "THE WONDER STATE". In the upper right hand corner is the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas. The pin back is still present and securely attached to the hanger. The hanger has a matching patina to the medal, and both still show the original gilt well. The ribbon still has very vibrant colors, but does have the small problem of being frayed on the right side. The hanger and medal are both back marked by the maker, GREENDUCK CO. CHICAGO. Arkansas Civil War items are not that common, the same can be said of Arkansas UCV items. If you collect UCV badges, this one needs to be in your collection.
