Set of 24 Coat Size & 12 Vest Size UCV Buttons
Item #: AA2877
This is a set of 24 coat size and 12 vest/cuff size United Confederate Veterans buttons made by Waterbury during the 1940's. The two piece buttons are in very good, NOS condition. The majority of the gilt is still on the coat buttons, with just a few of them showing a light tarnish on the faces. The vest/cuff size buttons are in mint condition on the face. All buttons have a lined background, with the Confederate battle flag on a staff in the center, the letters UCV in an arc above the flag and the years 1861-65 below the flag. These buttons were worn on United Confederate Veterans reunion uniforms all the way up to 30 May, 1951, when the last United Confederate Veterans reunion was held in Norfolk, Virginia. All the buttons are back marked "WATERBURY CO'S INC. CONN". The shanks are present and straight as an arrow. The coat size buttons are mounted on an original button card with a purple ink stamp of W H HORSTMANN/PHIL PA on the back of the card. The smaller buttons are also mounted on a button card that carries a purple ink stamp of UNITED CONFEDERATE VETERANS/ MACON GA. If you're restoring a Confederate veterans coat these will definitely be a step in the right direction! They will also add a little touch of color to your UCV collection!
