This is a reproduction Pattern 1941 United States Marine Corps blouse, or "dungaree jacket". The Pattern 1941 two piece herringbone bone twill (HBT) uniform replaced the blue denim fatigues the Marines wore for work details. The Marine P1941 uniform was sage green, a lighter shade than the Army OD #7. The blouse had three pockets, one on the left breast and two lower pockets. The pockets had no means of closing them. The top pocket was stenciled with USMC over the Marine Corps Eagle, Globe and Anchor. The buttons, four on the front and two on each sleeve, were originally bronze with U.S. Marine Corps embossed in a circular pattern. They were changed from bronze to blackened steel in August, 1942 to save on scarce resources. This reproduction Pattern 1941 USMC blouse is in new, never worn condition. It is correct in every detail, an exact of the blouse made famous by the early Pacific campaign Marines. This one is ink stamped on the inside of the neck area. It shows the size, 36, and three lines of information, the manufacturer, Contract Number and a date. This will look great on a mannequin in your WWII Pacific theater display, or wear it to your next WWII Marine reenactment!
