Bell Wiley's narrative, based on years of research makes a solid contribution to our knowledge of how the Confederate government, it's civilian and military establishments, were organized and functioned. It includes a useful compilation of hard to find facts and dates about the Confederacy as well as profiles of Jefferson Davis and the members of his cabinet, state governors and generals, and an analysis of their contributions to the cause of independence. This hard book book is in good condition, with a dust cover in fair condition.
