Mid 1800's Leather Bound Photo Album with 49 Images

This is a photo album with a patent date of July 21st, 1863, containing images from the late 1800's. The photo album itself is very interesting, as it is leather bound and in the form of a lockable book or bible. The front and back covers have designs very similar to the thermoplastic cases used to house individual images from the Civil War period. The album measures 6" high and 5 1/4" wide. The album contains 49 images that are either CDV's or tintypes. Some of the images have writing on the back, some have studio stamps and a couple of the CDV's have canceled postage stamps from 1865 on them. These images are in very good condition, and represent life in the Northeast during the 1860's through around 1900.
