This book was written by Lee Hadaway, published in 2008, the narrative is 205 pages and is illustrated with color and black and white photos. This is an update to the first Confederate Bowie Knife Guide published by Lee Hadaway in 2004. It too is a must have for the reference library if you plan to collect Confederate made and or used knives. The book was written by Lee Hadaway and the photographs were made by Terry Gumlich. This book is well written and is well illustrated with 32 black and white photographs of arsenal made and blacksmith crafted fighting knives. There are 6 pages of color photos of Confederate arsenal and blacksmith made knives. In addition, there are 36 photos of fake or misrepresented Confederate knives. The text is easy to follow, well detailed and sprinkled with Lee's little bits of common sense and wisdom through out. Included is a section titled "Features that should raise red flags", some information that can prevent you from making a costly mistake at the shows or on line auctions. All the knives illustrated in this book are owned by the author. These books are brand new and have been sitting on a shelf for 12 years now. The copy I used to photograph came apart from the spine when I flipped through it. The quality of the book binding may not be the best, but the quality of the content of the book is first rate! If you plan to collect Confederate knives, but better invest in a copy of this guide first!
