This is a table medallion commemorating the appointment of Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of German on 30 Jan, 1933. The medallion measures 1 1/2" in diameter and is die stuck brass that was silver plated. The front of the medallion has a bust of Hitler facing to the left, with his first and last name on either side of the bust. The sculptors name, W. VOSS, is stamped below the bust of Hitler. The reverse of the medallion is the Nazi eagle clutching a wreath with a canted swastika in the center. Stamped around the perimeter of the medallion are the words "GEMEINNUTZ VOR EIGENNUTZ", which translated means Public interest before self interest. The silver plating has worn off the top of the medallion on the front side, but is nearly 100% intact on the reverse. This will go great in a WWII German personal effects display.
