This is a MOLLE canteen cover issued to US forces during the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom. The MOLLE system, Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment, was introduced into the military in 1997 to replace the outdated ALICE system of individual equipment. This canteen cover is made of denier nylon and is equipped with a plastic quick release buckle closure. This cover can hold a canteen cup, 1 quart canteen, and a GI stove. The side pockets are for water purification tablets and fire starting apparatus. This cover can also be used as a utility pouch.
