This is a pewter figurine of a Confederate Infantryman's weapons and equipment entitled "Trappings Of Valor, C.S.A." by Chilmark. This figurine was sculpted by A. Lee Chernak in 1997 and is extremely detailed. Chernak uses a section of broken rail fence, a common sight wherever either army was near, to lay out the common Infantry soldiers tools of war. Leaning in the broken top notch of the upright rail is a Model 1841 "Mississippi" rifle. It is detailed with the brass patch box, sling swivels, ramrod and bayonet adapter for a saber bayonet. The soldiers waist belt is also hanging from the top notch. A Confederate made cap box and Model 1855 saber bayonet with leather scabbard are attached to the belt. Laying on the ground under the bottom rail is a haversack with a drinking cup tied to it, a Confederate tin drum canteen laying against the haversack. Laying on top of the bottom rail is the soldiers bedroll with his CS marked cartridge box resting on top of it. This figurine is mounted on an attractive oval wooden base that measures 8 1/4" wide and 6" wide. This is a limited production piece, with this one being 178 of 950 produced. These make great desk ornaments, birthday and Christmas gifts!
