This is a .41 caliber short rimfire cartridge from the post Civil War era. The copper cased cartridge is head stamped with an H in the center of the case. This was first produced by Winchester in the 1870's and was widely used in the Model 1895 Remington over and under derringer. The case length is .457" with a projectile diameter of .398", with an overall length of .913". The projectile, a round nose, has an aged, light gray patina to it. The copper case has a beautiful bronze patina. There aren't a whole lot of these rimfire cartridges with the H head stamp floating around out there. If you have an ammunition collection, this one needs to be in it!
