This book was written by Russell Shorto, published in 1991, the narrative is 119 pages and is illustrated with black and white photos, color and black and white drawings. David Farragut had one of the most exciting childhoods imaginable. He became a midshipman in the U.S. Navy at age nine, capturing pirates in the Caribbean and traveling around the world in the War of 1812. He rose to the rank of Captain at the outbreak of the Civil War and led to of the most brilliant sea battles of the war, The Battle of New Orleans and the Battle of Mobile Bay. Farragut's great contributions won hm the rank of admiral, the first in U.S. naval history. This hard back book is in very good condition, but has no dust jacket.
