This is a brass .36 caliber dual cast bullet mold measuring 5 1/4" in length. This brass mold is capable of making round ball or conical ammunition. There are no stamps or markings on the mold. It was recovered on private property near Winchester, Virginia. There were over 70 battles fought in and around Winchester, making it the most contested Confederate city during the entire war. This brass mold is frozen in the open position. It has a dark chocolate patina, one of the handles is broken off. The two bullets in the photos were not found with the mold, but will accompany the mold to it's new owner. This is a cool artifact from the most fought over piece of ground of the American Civil War.
