This is a US pistol belt rig used during World War I. The rig consists of a Model 1917 pistol belt, a Model 1918 ammunition pouch for the M1911 pistol and a Model 1916 holster for the M1911 pistol. The web belt is the later M1917, as it does not have the eagle snap for the ammo pouch used by the M1912 belt. The brass keepers, buckles and adjuster have all lost the original blacking, and have a beautiful golden patina. The brass eyelet has also lost most of the blacking and have a duller bronze patina. The makers stamp is long gone from the belt. The ammo pouch is made by R.H. Long and is dated 5-18. Both of the snaps on the front of the dual pocket ammo pouch work perfectly. The pouch shows some light staining from service use. The russet brown leather holster is made by the Graton & Knight Manufacturing Company of Worcester, Massachusetts. The back of the holster is stamped G.&K./1918/A.G.The holster is now a dark brown color and shows wear and slight crazing along the top of the flap. The embossed US within an oval ring is still very clear. There are no names, stamps or anything else to identify who this WWI rig belonged to. It is in very good condition and will display well on a mannequin dressed in a US WWI field uniform.
