This is a reproduction of the knife made famous by the United States Marine Corps during World War II, the Kabar fighting knife. The knife has an overall length of 12", with a blade length of 7". The knife is made with the same design as the legendary Marine Pacific theater one, made with modern materials. The handle is made of a sturdy thermoplastic elastomer, topped off by a 3/8" pommel capped that has been blind pinned. The high carbon steel blade has been powder coated. The first 2" of the blade are serrated. The racasso on the obverse side is stamped USMC, the reverse side is stamped KABAR/OLEAN, N.Y. The blade looks a little beat up in the photos, but it's mostly dirt and a little surface rust. A little oil and elbow grease and this one should clean up just like new. The leather scabbard shows some wear from use. It is embossed KA-BAR and has the Marine EGA in a round stamp and the letters USMC below it. This would be ideal for the reenactor in the family, or a great starter piece for the beginning collector.
