This is a pewter figurine from Andrew Chernak that is not titled. The pewter figure is of Robert E. Lee comes on an attractive oval wooden base that measures 4 1/4" by 3 1/4" and is approximately 5" tall. The figurine is highly detailed, depicting General Lee as he was injured weeks prior to the Battle of Sharpsburg. Lee had taken a hard fall from Traveler and injured both his left and right arms. Here he is standing, looking out over the battlefield with his right arm still bandaged and in a sling. His left hand and wrist are still bandaged also. Lee is wearing his famous gray slouch hat, double breasted frock coat, trousers and knee boots. On the ground near his feet are pine cones. His waist belt has no accoutrements, not even his sword. It would have been impractical to wear it, as General Lee required assistance to dress and undress, mount and dismount his horse as his arms were immobilized. The figurine is marked on the back with the artist's signature A. Lee Chernak, a copyright mark and the date 2000. The limited edition run of 350 shows this one to be number 129. A simple green laurel wreath with the gold letter CS in old English script is on the front. It would make a great desk ornament or a decorator piece in your war room, perhaps the perfect birthday or Christmas gift!
