This book was written by Edna and Frank Bradlow, published in 1958, the narrative is 118 pages and is illustrated with black and white photos, color and black and white drawings. The Alabama was a Confederate war ship that single handedly harassed the fleet of Yankee ships trading all over the world during the American Civil war, sinking many of them. In 1863, she docked in Cape Town, and the crew was feted by the cities inhabitants. This visit made such an impact that a song, still sung today in Africa, was composed by the "Cape Coloreds". This small volume describes the visit of the Alabama and her subsequent fate. This hardback book is in good, used condition with a dust jacket that is in good condition.
