The Blockade Runners Dave Horner
Item #: AA2006
This book was written by Dave Horner, published in 1968, the narrative is 228 pages and is illustrated with black and white photos and drawings. The author, an enthusiastic diver and amateur historian, has rounded up a number of dashing portraits of men and ships involved in blockade running on behalf of the Confederacy during the Civil War. He invites the reader underwater to view some of the relics, a few perhaps swishing with treasure. "When blockade running collapsed, the South collapsed", the author insists. It seemed that encounters between sea borne Rebels and Federals had the effect of major battles. Among the ships are The Phantom, The Condor, The Greyhound, the Belle Boyd and the Night Hawk. Scraps of history, but the authors journeys below are tantalizing, and yes, there is still gold and treasure aboard! Dive with the author near Cape Fear, the Bermuda reefs and reefs off the Carolina coast. This hardback book is in very good, used condition with a dust jacket that is in good condition.
