Model 1851 Sword Belt Plate
Item #: AA1893
This is a non dug Model 1851 sword belt plate, one of the most iconic pieces of the Civil War. The plate measures 3 1/4" wide and 2" high. The plate is an enlisted man's variant. It has the deepest chocolate patina that I've seen in a while! This one comes complete with the keeper. The plate or keeper and bench marked, but it's obvious they've been together for ever. The back side of the plate and the keeper show some brass that has taken on a dull golden patina. The plate has a ton of body curve to it. My guess is this one came home with the soldier and got put in a box or drawer and forgotten about. It's a nice, honest piece from the Civil War that will go in any collection.
