This is a pewter figurine from Chilmark from the "Leaders Of Gettysburg" collection of Lieutenant General Winfield Hancock sculpted by Francis J. Barnum in 1997. The pewter figure of General Reynolds comes on an attractive round wooden base that measures 4" across and is approximately 6" tall. A limited number of 1200 of the Hancock figurines were made, this one is stamped as a sample. Barnum went into great detail, showing the general standing, looking out over the battlefield. He is standing with his right foot resting on a rock. He holds his binoculars in his gloved left hand, his right hand holds a rolled up map. Reynolds wears a frock coat with the shoulder straps of a Lieutenant General. His M1851 sword belt rig, slouch hat and haversack are sitting on a broken tree stump. His staff and field officer's sword and scabbard rest against his right leg. Hancock wears his binocular case over his left shoulder. Lieutenant General Winfield Scott Hancock was a Corps Commander at the Battle of Gettysburg and was seriously wounded on the third day of the battle. This piece listed for $225 when originally released. It would make a great desk ornament or a decorator piece in your war room, perhaps the perfect birthday or Christmas gift!
