New York Excelsior Coat Button

This is a post Civil War New York State seal coat sized button from the Indian wars period. The two piece rimmed button depicts the state seal on a lined background. The eagle is close to the rim on this button, so that the sword of Justice does not touch it. On the center shield there are two ships sailing on the Hudson river, with the sun rising over a mountain in the background. There is no back mark on this button. A twisted shank is still present and stands straight. A nice late 1800's button with good eye appeal.
