This is a cast aluminum Confederate soldier manufactured by the Sexton Company. Leland and Lowell Sexton started the Sexton Metalcraft in 1946. In 1967 Leland bought his brother out and the company became known simply as Sexton. This piece was produced in 1968. It has an overall height of 25" and is 9" at the widest point. The metal figure is of a Confederate soldier complete with rifle, bayonet, bedroll, canteen, haversack, waist belt with oval belt plate and cap box. The canteen and belt plate are both marked CSA. The soldier is dressed in butternut brown trousers and shell jacket and kepi. The cuff trim and stripe on the trousers are yellow, but he sure doesn't look like a Cavalryman. The original paint is scuffed on the high points, but overall is in good condition. This piece has great eye appeal and would really look good in the man cave!
