This is a Model 1905 Mills pattern shotgun cartridge belt for the Model 1897 Trench shotgun. The webbed belt is in heavily used condition and is missing the brass buckle. It measures 3" wide and is 48" long when adjusted all the way out. There are 30 loops for the 12 gauge ammunition. Many of the cartridge loops are frayed at the top and/or bottom. There are four eyelets on the left side, two have brass hooks attached directly to the eyelets. The other two have brass rings with short sections of brass hangers attached to hooks. There are eight brass shotgun shells in the belt, five of them having been fired. Four of the shells are head stamped REM-UMC Best, two are WINCHESTER, one is KYNOCH'S Patent and one is UMC CLUB, all being stamped No 12. All eight of these cases were manufactured around the beginning of the 1900's. The Mills ink stamp is no longer visible, or any other markings for that matter. While it is a little tired and worn, this old shotgun belt still displays pretty well.
