This is a relic condition spur that was picked up near the Santa Fe Trail in Glorieta, New Mexico. It is made in the Spanish style used in the southwestern United States during the 1800's. This iron spur is the lighter than one might imagine, weighing just over a pound. The heel band measures 3" across the opening, is 1 1/8" wide and approximately 1/16" thick. The neck measures 2 1/4" in length, 1/2" in width and is in a figure 8 pattern. It is spread apart and slightly twisted near the rowel. The rowel and pin are missing. The leather straps are still on the spur, and the buckle to secure the strap is present. Both of the buttons to attach the straps are present. The outside of the heel band has been silver plated, but very little remains. Another great looking piece of South Western decor for your home or office.
