This is a regulation Civil War Drummer boys belt plate, known as a Drumstick Carriage buckle. It measures 2 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" high. The plate is made of heavy sheet brass with the corners clipped. The drum stick tubes are rolled brass and are attached to the plate with four copper rivets. A three point wire hook soldered to the back of the plate was used to attach the plate to either the drum sling or to the drummer's belt. This gave the drummer's a place to store their sticks when not drumming, but within easy reach if they were suddenly needed. The sticks pictured with the buckle do not come with it. Here's an opportunity to pick up an honest and unusual Civil War belt plate that won't break the bank!
