This is a shadow box of mixed excavated Civil War artifacts recovered from North Georgia. The display case is made of oak and measures 24" wide, 9" high and 3" deep. The relics in the case were recovered in North Georgia in the Dalton, Ring Gold Gap, Rocky Face areas. They were recovered on private property with the land owners permission. The contents include both dropped and fired musket and pistol bullets. There are approximately 50 bullets, the majority of them being .58 caliber Minnie's. A couple of .69 caliber round balls were recovered as well as some conical pistol bullets. Three large pieces of shrapnel and a couple smaller pieces are also included. An empty spots looks to have held a grape shot at one time, but it is no longer there. A large piece of foam holds the relics securely in the case. The areas these relics were recovered from saw some hard fighting during the Army of Tennessee's withdrawal through Georgia. This relic case would make a nice start for the beginning collector.
