WWII German Veterinary Services Armband

This is a World War II German Veterinary service armband. It measures 8" wide by 3 3/4" high. The light blue cotton material has a yellow cross centered on it outlined with a dark blue circle. The German Army used 2.75 million horses during WWII, mainly as pack horse and for pulling artillery pieces. There were a few cavalry brigades at the beginning of the war. It is estimated that over 750,000 of these horses died during the war. The veterinary services were responsible for maintain the health of these horses. The armband shows honest wear, but is in good condition. An unusual piece of history from the Second World War.
