This is a World War II M1 helmet with liner. The helmet is a front seam type with swivel bales. The shell has a heat stamp of 066B, indicating it was produced by the McCord Radiator Company of Detroit, Michigan. The liner has the makers stamp of International Molded Plastics, Inc. of Watertown, Massachusetts. IMP Incorporated manufactured high pressure liners that proved to be more durable than the low pressure ones of early manufacture. The exterior of the helmet has been textured with cork and painted a dark green. The majority of the texturing is still on the helmet, with only a couple spots of bare metal showing. The stainless steel rim has 100% of the paint remaining. The chin straps are sewn onto the bails and are OD#3 in color. The chin strap hook is brass and has the rounded corners. The liner has the OD7 suspension webbing complete with the clip in sweat band. The nape band is still present. It has the majority of the original OD paint, with only one coat being applied. The chin strap for the liner is missing, but the studs are still in the liner. There is one 1/8" hole drilled in the rear of the liner. This is a mid-war production M1 helmet that is in very good condition. It would make a great piece for the novice WWII collector in your family.
