This is a Carte de Vista of Abraham Lincoln made during the early 1860's. The photographer that took this shot was Anthony Berger, who ran Matthew Brady's New York studio. This studio portrait was used as the image for Lincoln's picture on the $5 bill. Berger's portrait photo's of Lincoln were also used for Lincoln's image on the penny and the 3 cent stamp. This CDV is very clear and shows Lincoln before the stress and strain of a Civil War had begun to age him early. There is ne small dimple on the image, just above his head to the left. The edges are sharp with no bends or dog ears. There is no back mark on this one, just a couple of pencil markings. The front of the image has the words ABRAHAM LINCOLN at the bottom of the image. The CDV is encased in an acrylic case. This is a very nice image of the 16th president of the United States.
